President and CEO of LifeWise Health Plan of Washington, Kristin Meadows, is the recipient of the 2023 Philanthropy Volunteer of the Year award for the Board of Trustees at the Snohomish County YMCA.

In serving on the Board of Trustees at the YMCA, Kristin helps further the commitment that both the YMCA and LifeWise share to strengthen our community by working side-by-side to ensure that everyone, regardless of gender, income, or background, has the opportunity to live life to its fullest. The Volunteer of the Year Award recognizes volunteers who have made a positive impact by implementing the YMCA mission within their community.

Kristin is recognized for her enthusiasm and focus leading the Annual Campaign which was instrumental in the Snohomish County YMCA reaching their Trustee Campaign goal for 2023. The Annual Campaign enables the YMCA to continue the important work of caring for our community while ensuring that financial limitations are not barriers to opportunity.

How does this translate to our members?

At LifeWise, we know that most of your health journey takes place outside of the doctor’s office and in your community. Factors called Social Determinants of Health play a large role in the health of individuals and communities. Examples of social determinants of health are:

  • Racism, discrimination, and violence
  • Education, job opportunities, and income
  • Access to nutritious foods and physical activity opportunities
  • Language and literacy skills

Just promoting healthy choices won’t eliminate these and other health disparities. We recognize that we need to take an active role in the community beyond providing access to quality health care to our members.

We care for the communities we serve through sponsorship and partnership with trusted community organizations, like YMCA, who have proven success in addressing some of these determinants of health through early learning programs, employment assistance, exercise programs, and more.

Kristin, and the entire LifeWise team, are proud to support the YMCA’s mission to offer families ways to have fun together, empower people to be healthier in spirit, mind and body, welcome and embrace newcomers and help foster social responsibility.
